Looking Into Eyes by Ezifeh Chinua

Your rough-hewn lips open,
Wide,
Like men forced into labour,
Drawing
The barbs of your teeth…

(Pause)

“We’ve been talking for hours,
Giving,
Your stretched out arms
Bears nothing
In the pouch of its palm,
Spewing empty gift boxes
Till I looked into the plains of your eyes”

(Play)

…Reluctant teeth,to let pass
The caravans of lies spurned
By your anxious tongue.
